Three-part video series from PA Fish & Boat and PATU’s TIC Program about establishing a bacterial colony in your aquarium prior to fish arriving in order to complete the nitrogen cycle. These videos show the process over 23 days.
The key is to monitoring water quality until a nitrate value is present; that shows that ammonia is being converted to nitrite and then nitrate, meaning the nitrogen cycle has been completed and the bacterial colony is working as it should.
